Hello from the Marketing Side

● My Experience

I have been a Marketer & PR Executive for 4.5 years at 2 separate companies - Muslim Pro & The Gift Expert. I’ve worked with brands that amassed over 180M+ downloads, with 3.6M monthly active users but I’ve also worked with smaller brands whose main focus is ensuring that everyday we can sales enquiries coming in.

My day to day meant crafting posts, wrangling creators, dreaming up events and sweating every detail. All of it had one aim: to make people feel seen, not sold to.

Below you’ll find the campaigns, the numbers and the lessons. It’s a long scroll but a good one.

The numbers, up front

What I’ve learnt (and what I’m doing about it)

The lessons

  • Community is built by showing up. Online reach earns attention, but physical moments earn belonging.

  • Emotion plus usefulness wins. The best content feels like a friend and gives people something to keep.

  • Context decides the format. Every market needs its own hosts, tone and timing.

  • Resourcefulness beats budget. Some of my best work started with no budget and no playbook.

What I’ll do next time

  • Set targets before launch, such as downloads, attendance and creator retention, so results come in numbers.

  • Build a follow-up plan into every event, so creators and guests stay in touch between moments.

  • Plan for no-shows and clashes by checking city calendars and confirming attendance early.

  • Put benchmarks in every KOL brief, so I can compare creators fairly.
